Dr. Schaler is an associate clinical professor at the University of Colorado, Department of Family Medicine and regularly teaches medical students at his clinic. Dr. Schaler has been voted Best Physician in the “Best of Salida Reader’s Choice Poll”, on two occasions. He is medical advisor to the Chaffee County Public Health Department and has served a four-year term as chief of medical staff at Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center. Dr. Schaler enjoys trail-running, whitewater rafting and kayaking, skiing, mountain-biking, playing banjo and guitar. He serves on the board of the Chaffee County United Soccer Club and enjoys spending time with his son, daughter and two dogs.
In the past Dr. Schaler was an Outward Bound instructor/course director and a river guide on the Colorado River through Grand Canyon National Park.
